Série de 6 portraits inspirés d’un travail “La Visitation” réalisé par l’artiste photographe/vidéaste americain Bill Viola à partir de celui du peintre Pontormo (1528 église de Carmignano près de Florence).
Viola exécute une série de 6 autoportraits vidéographiques, imitant les différentes expressions figurant sur les tableaux du XVIème siècle. Dans cette reprise, “Revisitation”, Eric Kaiser boucle la boucle, reprend l’image photographique pour la retraiter en peinture. La palette et la touche du peintre produisent une impression à la fois de jubilation enfantine dans le choix des couleurs et de maturité dans la maîtrise du traité.
Series of 6 portraits inspired by a work entitled “The Visitation” by American artist photographer/videographer Bill Viola, based on the work of the painter Pontormo (1528, church of Carmignano near Florence).
Viola executes a series of 6 videographic self-portraits, imitating the various expressions depicted in the 16th-century paintings. In this reprise, “Revisitation”, Eric Kaiser comes full circle, taking the photographic image and reprocessing it in paint. The painter’s palette and touch produce an impression of both childlike glee in the choice of colors and maturity in the mastery of the treatment.
